We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date of this Privacy Policy. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates. Your continued use of the App after any modifications to the Privacy Policy constitutes your acknowledgment of the changes and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.

  5. Making informed decisions about future development priorities

We do not use this information to personally identify individual users, create user profiles, or track behavior across different applications or websites.

In-App Purchases

TriviaDARE offers in-app purchases for additional trivia packs and dare packs, including adult-themed content in the DaresOnly mode. All purchases are processed exclusively through the Apple App Store for iOS users or Google Play Store for Android users.

Important points regarding in-app purchases:

  • ByteUmbrella does not collect, process, or store your payment information
  • All payment processing is handled by Apple or Google through their secure payment systems
  • We receive only anonymized purchase confirmation from the app stores
  • Purchase history is maintained by the respective app stores under their privacy policies
  • Receipts for purchases are generated and stored by the app stores
  • Refund requests must be directed to the appropriate app store

We maintain records of in-app purchases solely for the purpose of providing access to purchased content and customer support but do not link these records to personally identifiable information.

User-Generated Content

TriviaDARE allows users to create custom trivia questions and dares. Please note:

  • All user-created content is stored locally on the user’s device
  • User-generated content is not transmitted to our servers
  • User-generated content is not shared with other users unless explicitly used in multiplayer mode
  • During multiplayer mode, user-generated content is temporarily transmitted through Firebase only for the duration of the game session
  • Once a multiplayer session ends, the transmitted content is not retained on our servers
  • Users have full control to delete any user-created content from their device at any time
  • We do not review, monitor, or moderate user-generated content as it remains on the user’s device

We recommend that users do not include personally identifiable information in any content they create within the App.

Data Retention

As we do not collect personal information directly, there is minimal data subject to retention policies. For the limited device information that Google Firebase may collect:

  • Analytics data is retained for a period not exceeding 14 months
  • Crash reports may be retained for up to 90 days
  • Multiplayer session data is retained only for the duration of the active game session
  • Once retention periods expire, the data is automatically deleted from Firebase systems

Third-Party Services

Google Firebase

We use Google Firebase for core functionality and analytics. Firebase is a development platform owned by Google that helps us provide:

  • Real-time database capabilities for multiplayer functionality
  • Crash reporting to identify and fix technical issues
  • Analytics to understand general usage patterns

Firebase may collect certain device information as mentioned in the “Information That May Be Collected Automatically” section above. The information collected by Firebase is subject to Google’s privacy policy, which can be found at: Google Privacy Policy.

Firebase implements various security measures to protect the data it processes, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, secure authentication protocols, and regular security assessments.

App Stores

The App is distributed through Apple App Store and Google Play Store. These platforms may collect information in accordance with their respective privacy policies:

Information collected by these app stores may include:

  • Purchase history
  • Download history
  • App usage statistics
  • Device information
  • Payment information

We do not have access to most of this information, and any information shared with us by the app stores is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Analytics Limitations

We have configured our analytics implementation to:

  • Avoid collecting personally identifiable information
  • Limit the amount of device information collected
  • Anonymize IP addresses where possible
  • Disable any user targeting or profiling capabilities
  • Focus only on aggregated data to improve overall app performance and user experience

Children’s Privacy

TriviaDARE is not intended for children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App includes features, particularly in the DaresOnly mode, that contain adult-suggestive content. This content is secured behind an in-app purchase with age verification through the app stores’ purchase mechanisms.

To protect younger users:

  • We do not target our advertising or marketing to children under 13
  • We do not use language or features specifically designed to attract children under 13
  • We rely on app store age ratings to inform potential users and parents about the app’s content
  • We promptly delete any information we might inadvertently collect from children under 13 if we become aware of it

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected], and we will take steps to remove that information from our systems.

Data Security

Although we do not collect personal information, we take the security of any data processed through our App seriously. Security measures implemented include:

  • Secure communication protocols (HTTPS/SSL) for all data transmissions
  • Reliance on Firebase’s comprehensive security infrastructure
  • Regular security assessments and updates to the App
  • Limited access controls for any administrative functions
  • Use of anonymized identifiers whenever possible
  • Prompt application of security patches and updates

Despite these measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect any information processed, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

User Rights

Access, Correction, and Deletion Rights

As we do not collect personally identifiable information, there is minimal personal data for users to access, modify, or delete in our systems. However:

  • Any user-created content is stored locally on the user’s device and can be deleted directly by the user
  • Users can reset the App to factory settings through their device’s application management
  • Users can opt out of Firebase Analytics by adjusting their device settings
  • Users can request deletion of any potential data associated with their device by contacting us

Right to Object

Users have the right to object to any processing of their information for legitimate interests pursued by us or third parties. As our processing is minimal and necessary only for core app functionality, such objections may limit the ability to use certain features of the App.

Data Portability

Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers (beyond what is temporarily needed for multiplayer functionality), data portability concerns are minimal. User-created content resides on the user’s device and can be managed directly by the user.

Multiplayer Functionality

Our multiplayer feature works through private game codes and is designed with privacy in mind:

  • Game sessions are temporary and exist only for the duration of the game
  • Game codes must be shared privately between players outside the App
  • The App does not provide public lobbies or user directories
  • Players cannot search for other users
  • The game does not display identifying information about who created or joined a particular game
  • Communication between players is limited to game-related interactions only
  • No chat functionality is included
  • Session data is not retained after the game ends

Do Not Track Features

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. As our App operates differently from websites and does not track users across third-party websites or services, there is currently no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals. However, we honor user privacy preferences by collecting minimal information as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

California Residents

Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, California Civil Code Section 1798.83, known as the “Shine The Light” law, permits you to request information regarding the disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes during the previous calendar year. As stated previously, we do not disclose personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes, so these provisions do not apply to our practices.

California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) Rights

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. Since we do not collect personal information as defined by the CCPA, many of these provisions have limited applicability to our App. However, for transparency, we affirm that California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is being collected about them
  • Know whether their personal information is sold or disclosed and to whom
  • Say no to the sale of personal information
  • Access their personal information
  • Request deletion of their personal information
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising their privacy rights

To exercise these rights, please contact us at [email protected].

European Users and GDPR Compliance

While ByteUmbrella is based in the United States, we respect the privacy rights of users worldwide. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Since we do not collect personal data as defined under the GDPR beyond the minimal device information processed by Firebase, many GDPR provisions have limited applicability. However, we confirm that:

  • We process data lawfully, fairly, and transparently
  • We collect information only for specified, explicit, and legitimate purposes
  • We limit collection to what is necessary for the purposes for which it is processed
  • We ensure information is accurate and kept up to date
  • We keep information in a form that permits identification only as long as necessary
  • We process information in a manner that ensures appropriate security

EU users can contact us regarding any GDPR-related concerns at [email protected].

International Data Transfers

ByteUmbrella is based in the United States. By using the App, you agree that the limited information Firebase collects may be transferred to and processed in the United States. The privacy protections and the rights of authorities to access your information in the United States may not be the same as in your home country.

We rely on legally-provided mechanisms to lawfully transfer data from the EEA to the United States, including:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses
  • Legitimate interest provisions where applicable
  • Consent where required

Cookies and Similar Technologies

TriviaDARE does not use cookies as traditionally defined for websites. However, the App may use similar local storage technologies to:

  • Remember your preferences
  • Store game progress
  • Cache content for better performance
  • Maintain session information for multiplayer functionality

These storage mechanisms are contained within the App and not shared with third parties.

The App may contain links to other websites or applications that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.
